Comedy actress to switch on Bassett’s Christmas lights
The faithful but put-upon personal assistant to fictional DJ and TV presenter Alan Partridge will be switching on the Christmas lights in Wootton Bassett this year.
The actress Felicity Montague, who plays Lynn Benfield opposite Steve Coogan’s Partridge, will do the honours on Friday, December 6.
Montague is also well known for playing Perpetua, the unpleasant colleague of the protagonist in the screen adaptation of Bridget Jones’s Diary, starring Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant.
The Christmas lights event will also feature 30 market stalls along the centre of High Street, Santa’s Grotto, snow machine, hog roast, brass band, face painting, drum workshop, caricaturist/balloon modeller/children’s entertainer, circus skills workshop, and rodeo reindeer.
Stage entertainment will include a carol service, Royal Wootton Basset Dance School, choir and Zumba.
Shops will be staying open late for the event, which starts at 6pm.
