A golf day sponsored by Marlborough-based wealth management firm Brewin Dolphin has raised £2,500 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal.
The event was held at the prestigious Cumberwell Park golf course at Bradford-on-Avon and involved 12 teams of four players.
The teams included WAA supporters and local businesses. Brewin Dolphin also entered a team, while the ninth hole was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Swindon.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance had a team comprising air ambulance paramedics Luke MacCallum and Steve Riddle, Pete Beazer, a paramedic based in Trowbridge, and supporter Neville Smith.
The 18 hole competition was played in Stableford format and won by Fore Amigos, golf players from Frome.
Following the competition the players enjoyed a three course dinner and both Luke and Steve spoke about the work of WAA.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance receives no government or national lottery funding and relies solely on donations. It will take delivery of a new helicopter when its partnership with Wiltshire Police for the joint helicopter ends in December 2014.
From January 2015 the charity will have to raise £2.5 million a year to keep the air ambulance flying.
Claire Kelly, head of events and charity services at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “We are really pleased with the success of our first golf day. Everyone enjoyed it and Cumberwell is a beautiful golf course. There was a lovely atmosphere and it was a good day.”
