Website to support people living a gluten free life
A businesswoman who has to live a gluten free life due to severe food intolerance has used her marketing expertise to launch The Gluten Free Centre online.
Diana Murphy, who lives in Malmesbury, co-created the website with her husband David. It goes live next Friday, October 17 as an online directory and community hub for all things gluten free in the UK.
Diana and David’s vision for The Gluten Free Centre is to provide practical information for everyone living gluten free and to help raise awareness of coeliac disease, an auto-immune disorder with no cure, except adopting a completely gluten free diet for life.
It was first set up on Facebook some months ago where the community grew quickly. This engaged audience flagged up issues faced by people living gluten free on a day-to-day basis such as product availability, prices and the problems of eating away from home.
Diana, who has over 20 years’ experience of working with small businesses, has been on a personal journey to discover a healthy and safe way to live a gluten free life.
She said: “After creating a vibrant social media community which is talking, and sharing their daily experiences – creating The Gluten Free Centre became obvious for David and myself.
“Although I don’t have a choice, I learnt to enjoy and love my gluten free diet. It gives me the opportunity to discover and experiment with a range of unusual ingredients and ultimately makes me pay closer attention to what I eat.
“I’m passionate about sharing with others the wealth of products, advice and information which are now available. The Gluten Free Centre aims to bring together gluten free people hungry for good food and those who, with equal passion, are creating products suitable for their needs.”
The Gluten Free Centre provides a platform for people to share their experiences, ideas and to support each other.
It will include a directory of products, restaurants, cafes, hotels and other facilities catering correctly for those who live gluten free. Events will be listed as well as recipes, news, product reviews, advice from experts and articles about companies, large and small, which manufacture gluten free products.
