A solicitor from Swindon-based Withy King has become one of the youngest to be appointed to the Law Society’s Wills and Equity Committee.
With just two years’ post qualification experience, Holly Mieville-Hawkins is already making a name for herself as an expert in the field of Court of Protection work.
She represents people who lack mental capacity as well as their families in court proceedings relating to their property and financial affairs.
Her expertise has also been recognised by Chambers & Partners UK, the independent guide to the legal profession, which revealed Holly has been named a ‘Leader in their Field’ in the 2015 edition, due to be published in October.
“I am honoured to have been appointed to the committee and look forward to playing an active role in law reforms in this area,” said Holly, who was recently promoted to Associate at Withy King.
“I went into the law to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people. My involvement in the committee will enable me to help ensure that front line practitioners’ views are taken into account by the government when it reviews its policies and procedures, particularly regarding the way in which elderly people and other vulnerable members of our society are protected and provided for.”
The Law Society’s Wills and Equity Committee was established in its current form in 1998. Its role is to review and promote improvement in the laws and procedures governing wills, probate, trusts and charities, and lobby government on important issues. Committee members are selected for their expertise in various fields.
