Local firms share in £121 million Lyneham contract
Work has started on the conversion of the new Defence College of Technical Training at the former RAF Lyneham, and local companies are sharing in the spoils of the £121 million contract.
Balfour Beatty and Kier Construction, who are working in partnership under the name Hercules, have awarded Chippenham-based civil engineers M J Church a £10+ million pound contract for the ground works, while Seqol Enterprise Works from Swindon are providing the catering for the whole construction site.
A Meet the Buyer event was held by Wessex Chambers earlier this year for local businesses interested in being part of the supply chain in the redevelopment of the site.
Wessex Chambers manager Stefan Barbaruk said: “We are delighted with the outcome of this event and that Hercules are engaging with a further 20 other local companies, which is good news for the local economy.”
