LEP appoints a new chairman
Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) has announced the appointment of Barry Dennington as its new chairman.
Barry was confirmed as chairman at a board meeting held earlier this week, and will take up his appointment at the beginning of June.
As a senior executive with extensive leadership experience, Barry most recently held the position of chief operating officer and deputy CEO at semiconductor manufacturer Plessey.
Barry said: “This is a very important time for SWLEP and I am delighted to be a part of it. I look forward to building on the significant progress that has already been made to ensure long-term prosperity for the area.”
Barry has lived and worked in the area for many years and further commented “I believe we have a great opportunity working with local business leaders and Government to deliver growth in Swindon and Wiltshire and I am delighted to accept the role as chairman.”
Barry has successfully managed international teams in the USA, Asia and Europe for organisations including NXP Semiconductors and Phillips Semiconductors.
He will work with the SWLEP to ensure that Swindon and Wiltshire businesses are represented and their voices are heard.
