The success of young accountancy company Sunflower Accounts Ltd has led Mark Rickaby to join his wife Steph in running the successful business.
Mark, who’s 38, supported his wife Steph when she set up Sunflower Accounts Ltd in early 2013 after many years of working as an employed accountant.
As Sunflower Accounts Ltd entered its second year and began growing rapidly, he made the decision to leave his job of ten years at the Hydrographic Office in Taunton, Somerset, as a data analyst working in cartography and Geographic Information Systems.
Mark said: “Our long term vision was always that I would join the business as it evolved to support Steph and to create a family-run firm with an aim of providing excellent customer service educating and supporting SMEs nationwide.
“Steph’s commitment and drive have been exceptional and the business has grown so rapidly – with clients across the UK – that it was time for me to be part of Sunflower full time.”
Mark and Steph have also moved their business HQ from Clevedon, near Bristol to Calne.
Steph said: “We love Wiltshire as a county and it’s where Mark was brought up. We have clients all over the UK so being based here provides us with fantastic access being so close to the M4 and with excellent rail links. We could not be happier in our decision to make these changes to our business.”
Mark is originally from Wiltshire after being born and brought up in Wroughton. He attended The Ridgeway School, and New College in Swindon. He went on to study for an undergraduate degree in geology at the Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education and then completed a Masters degree at Reading University.
Mark is now a student member with the Association of Tax Technicians and will be sitting his ATT exams next year.
