Gala dinner will support Olympic hopefuls
A gala dinner for business leaders in Wiltshire will help the county’s rising sports stars towards medal glory at the next Olympics.
The Olympic Legacy Business Dinner will give businesspeople the opportunity to hear from British rowing champion and double Olympic gold medalist James Cracknell OBE.
Sponsorship raised from the evening will be added to the Funding Future Olympians and Paraylmpians Fund for 2014.
Established in 2011, the grant scheme support talented young sports people across the county to continue developing in their respective sports, with a view to challenging for honours at future Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The funding can be used to help individual’s access training and competitive opportunities, purchase equipment and cover transport costs for attending regional and national events.
Athletes who have previously received the funding include Olympian Francesca Fox and Paralympian silver medallist Aaron Moores.
