Free seminars tackle pensions auto enrolment

Employers looking for help and advice about pensions auto enrolment can learn from the experts at a free seminar in Wootton Bassett on Wednesday, July 16.

The auto enrolment legislation means that every employer in the UK must automatically enrol workers into a workplace pension scheme if they are aged between 22 and state pension age, earn more than £10,000 a year, and work in the UK.

All UK companies – starting with the largest back in 2012 – have had to implement new pension procedures, but the staging dates for the smallest firms – of 160 employees and below – started this summer and will continue until 2015.

The seminar – which takes place at Manor House Enterprise Network, Royal Wootton Bassett from 3pm to 5pm – will hear from three local experts.

Andy Tottman, independent financial planning consultant and director of Chilvester Financial, will talk about the choice of pension solutions available and how these can best be used to benefit both the employer and employees. Andy will demonstrate the funding options open to employers and discuss some of the bear traps that may be lurking for the unwary.

Roz Paton of People Issues HR Services will talk about the human resource aspects of the changes to employers and employees together with preparation businesses will need to undertake with their employees to get ready for their staging date.

And Jessica Pillow of Pillow May chartered accountants will talk about the mechanics of making auto enrolment as easy as possible to operate efficiently through companies’ payroll systems.

The seminar will be repeated on Wednesday, September 10 from 10am to 4pm.
