Eight ‘firsts’ for Withy King in Legal 500 list
Law firm Withy King has achieved eight first-tier rankings in the latest edition of Legal 500 – an authoritative reference guide to the UK’s best lawyers and firms.
Withy King’s commercial property, employment, personal injury, clinical negligence, family, contentious probate and racing and bloodstock teams have all achieved top rankings in Legal 500, which was published on Wednesday.
Withy King has also been recognised as a ‘regional heavyweight’ in the South West with two partners achieving the prestigious ‘leading individual’ status in the region.
“I am pleased to see Withy King climbing the legal rankings and being recognised for the quality of our work and client relationships. What’s more important though is that our clients are providing such positive feedback, which reflects our total commitment to them and the challenges they face,” said Graham Street, managing partner at Withy King, which has offices in Swindon and Marlborough.
“We are building a firm which is relevant to people and businesses today and in the future and we’re seeing clients respond to that. This commitment is reflected in our continued investment in our people ensuring we can attract and retain the brightest and most talented solicitors in the area.”
Withy King’s Bath and Swindon-based family team has achieved a first tier ranking and been commended for “its unrivalled level of advice.” Team head Richard Ellis has particular expertise in child protection work, and Rebecca Stevens is “highly successful at achieving the very best outcomes, whether through a negotiated settlement or contested proceedings.”
Withy King’s clinical negligence team is also among those ranked in the first tier. Led by partner Simon Elliman, the team, which this year tops the league tables in both the South West and the South East, is renowned for its work in the field of birth injuries, dental injuries and negligent hospital treatment. Legal 500 describes the firm’s 28-strong clinical negligence team as a “well-organised” “first-rate” practice whose lawyers are “committed to their clients.”
The firm has also achieved a national ranking for its expertise in handling Court of Protection cases.
The directory also praises personal injury practice head, the “extremely knowledgeable and thorough” Louise Hart, for helping to build the firm’s reputation for catastrophic injury and fatal accident claims and developing the expertise in the area of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome claims.
Withy King’s commercial property team, led by partner Paul Daniels, has maintained its first tier ranking. Clients have noted the firm’s “excellent response times, very good knowledge and well-priced advice”.
The employment team, which has been top-ranked for six years running, has been praised for its “expertise in discrimination and employment issues arising from corporate transactions” as well as tribunal litigation and company restructuring work.
Withy King held its position in a further 14 Legal 500 categories.
