Salisbury Vision appoints new chairman
The Salisbury Vision Partnership, which brings together key commercial, civic, community and cultural organisations within the city of Salisbury, has appointed its new independent chair.
Alex Tregellas, 53, has been appointed by the Vision board to succeed Sir Christopher Benson, who stepped down from the role last year. The aims of the Board include supporting the economic wellbeing of the city and helping to deliver regeneration projects within the city.
Alex has long-standing connections with Salisbury area and is highly experienced in business. He has specialised for many years in corporate change management and worked with and for some of the largest companies in the world including BP and Invensys plc.
He brings with him a wealth of international businesses experience which he will put to use in leading the Board as it continues its ongoing programme to make Salisbury a better place to live in, work in, or simply visit.
While the process to appoint a permanent successor has been on-going, Brigadier Alastair Clark, the former chairman of Salisbury Civic Society, has served as interim chairman.
The Salisbury Vision oversees major projects which will transform and regenerate parts of the city providing a major economic boost to the local area, including the ongoing multi-million pound redevelopment of Salisbury’s Central Car Park and Maltings area.
This scheme will deliver new shops and leisure facilities for the city. The Salisbury Vision partnership is also Wiltshire Council’s nominated local reference group for the development of a transport strategy for the city.
Alex said: “I am delighted to have been asked to chair the Salisbury Vision partnership at this exciting time. Much valuable work has already been done and important steps taken towards securing a prosperous future for this wonderful city.
“I hope that I can bring my experience of managing change in the corporate world to build on these foundations and deliver further positive change in Salisbury for the prosperity and wellbeing of residents, businesses, visitors and investors alike.”
